Plagiarism Policy

IJOASAR is committed to maintaining originality, proper attribution, and high standards of research integrity throughout the publication process.

Why Original Work Matters

At the International Journal of Allied Sciences and Research, we publish research because we believe it advances scientific knowledge. That only works if what we publish is genuine. Authors who conduct original research deserve appropriate credit, and readers deserve to know whose ideas and findings they are reading.

Put simply, plagiarism is taking someone else's ideas, words, data, or findings and presenting them as your own without giving proper credit to the original source.

This includes copying text verbatim, paraphrasing too closely, borrowing ideas without citation, and reusing figures or data without acknowledgment. It also includes recycling substantial portions of one's own previously published work without disclosure.

  • Direct copying: Taking text from a source and using it word-for-word without quotation marks or citation.
  • Patchwork plagiarism: Stitching together phrases and sentences from multiple sources, with or without rewording, to create material that appears original.
  • Idea plagiarism: Using another person's original concept, theory, interpretation, or intellectual contribution without appropriate credit.
  • Self-plagiarism: Reusing substantial portions of previously published work without citation or disclosure. This may also include submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals.
Pre-check / Pre-scanning

We do not necessarily run every submission through plagiarism detection software immediately. Once a manuscript shows promise and moves forward in our evaluation process, it is checked for originality and inappropriate overlap.

Reviewers also play an important role. Experts in their fields may recognise borrowed content or improperly attributed material that automated software may not identify.

Before publication: If plagiarism is detected during review, the manuscript is rejected and will not be considered further. Depending on the circumstances and severity, future submissions from the same authors may also be declined.

After publication: If plagiarism comes to light after publication, the Editor-in-Chief will investigate, sometimes with assistance from a specially constituted committee. If plagiarism is confirmed and exceeds acceptable limits, the article may be formally retracted.

In serious cases, the journal may notify the author's institution and relevant professional bodies. Future submissions from authors involved in confirmed plagiarism may be barred from the journal.

Authors are encouraged to build on existing research. The key requirement is proper attribution. Sources should be cited, quotation marks should be used for direct quotations, and the origin of ideas should be clearly acknowledged.

Authors drawing substantially on their own previous work should also disclose and appropriately cite that work. Good citation practices strengthen a contribution by showing how it relates to existing scholarship.

Authors are strongly encouraged to check their manuscripts for originality before submission and to use appropriate plagiarism detection tools where available.

Ultimately, authors bear full responsibility for the originality of their submissions. The editorial board is not liable for plagiarism-related complaints, legal actions, or consequences arising from published work.

By submitting to IJOASAR, authors confirm that their work is original and properly attributed.

As an open access journal, our content is freely available to readers worldwide. This openness comes with responsibility from both the journal and its authors.

We are committed to publishing work that meets high ethical standards and expect the same commitment from everyone who submits a manuscript to IJOASAR.
